Astrology is the science that studies and analyses the regular movements of the planets, and thereby predicts the fortunes and misfortunes of men, natural calamities like inundations, earthquakes, plagues, volcanic eruptions, fates of the nations and other incidents relating to terrestrial phenomena. It is called Jyothisha or Knowledge of Light from Jyothi or light that is the root cause for all known creation. In Sanskrit it is also called Hora Sastra meaning the science that treats of Time.

No science or art is more interesting, instructive and useful to mankind in contributing to his moral and material advancement than the sublime science of Astrology.
